Managed agent updates
On the hosted plane, workspace admins can update an agent from the Fleet dashboard.
How an update runs
- An admin selects Update agent on a host.
- The host finishes its active jobs first.
- It downloads the latest stable agent release and checks it against the checksum published with that release.
- A supervisor starts the new agent. If the new agent cannot contact the control plane within 90 seconds, the supervisor restores the previous agent.
- The dashboard shows the installed version, progress and failures.
Limits
- A host needs one manual install of agent v0.2.7 or later before it can take managed updates.
- An older target cannot downgrade an agent.
- A new request from the dashboard can retry a failed release.
- Managed updates replace only the agent binary. To update the CLI or a local controller, run the installer again.
Self-hosted controllers do not have the Fleet dashboard. Update those hosts with
curl -fsSL https://get.ushr.io | sh and restart the services.
